PortCastelló continues to make advances in environmental protection with the installation of dust trapping screens to protect El Grao de Castellón from dust particles given off during the handling of solid bulk cargoes in the port area. This measure improves living conditions in the town.

There are now a total of five screens, three are situated in the north basin, the ‘muelle transversal exterior’ and   the ‘muelle de la cerámica,’ and another in the south basin. The screens are 12 metres high and have involved an investment greater than 680,000 euros. Their effectiveness in mitigating the diffusion of particles has been demonstrated by the Institute of Ceramics Technology  (ITC) through a study.

This set of screens is added to the other measures that have been taken to protect the environment and to minimise the impact on the environment by operations in the port.
