Welcome to the web site of the Port of Castellón which contains ample information about our port and our wonderful port community. The management of the of the Port of Castellón is guided by its strategy plan which has won recognition at a European level for its excellence in management, the EFQM 500+, and is distinguished for its social commitment and environmental protection.
Situated in a strategic enclave in the Eastern Mediterranean, Castellón de la Plana, is a diversified port which at the time of writing in 2018, is among the top ten of Spanish ports ,both in terms of tonnage of goods going through the port, such as solid bulks, bulk liquids, TEUs and general goods, as well as holding fifth place of Spanish ports in imports/exports. This is a port with an important hinterland which is permanently adapting itself to the needs of the main productive sectors in the province of Castellón; ceramics (95% of this sector in concentrated in Castellón) chemical and petrochemical (the only oil refinery in the Valencian region) energy, agricultural produce especially citric fruit.
The port of Castellón has a history of more than 100 years, it is a modern, competitive port which currently occupies an area measuring 8 square kilometres and has approximately 5 kilometres of dock front, 16 metres of depth in the harbours and offers land where production and logistics centres, which take advantage of the situation of the port. The port has inner harbours, a recreation port and a fishing port, as well as north and south basins. In the north basin the Muelle de la Ceramica stands out for its handling of solid bulks, a dock for cruise ships , and the Muelle de Centenario (with two container terminals operated by Noatum Terminal de Castellón S.A. and by Terminal Polivalente de Castellón. The south basin has 2 million square metres, has the solid bulks terminal PortSur (in which a clinker plant operates) and the dock on the eastern breakwater for the handling of liquid bulks for the only oil refinery in the Valencian Region. the first bio-diesel plant in Europe and other industries in the Serrallo Industrial Estate. l
Our port is well connected by the dual carriageway AP-7, the A-7 motorway an the N-340. At the same time there is a rail access to the north basin and a new rail link for the south is due to be built soon to connect the port to the Mediterranean corridor.
