PortCastelló’s regular container line with the Canary Islands

1 March 2024

2024-03-01. The Port of Castellon has a regular container service with the Canary Islands which runs between Barcelona, Castellon, Alicante, Huelva, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Arrecife.

The route operates on a weekly basis, departing from Castellon on Tuesdays. The service is delivered by the 700-TEU vessel Greta. Its first call was in June 2023, and it is now a firm fixture on the port’s schedule.

The Chairman of the Port Authority of Castellon, Rubén Ibáñez, commented that “this regular container line between the Port of Castellon and the Canary Islands means we have accomplished our goal of connecting to our islands.”

Rubén Ibáñez pointed out that the maritime connection from Castellon “helps to enhance trade flows between the mainland and the islands, especially in general cargo.”

The shipping company also offers a weekly service from Castellon on Tuesdays to Casablanca, unloading there on Fridays. “This promotes exports from our hinterland to North Africa.”

The Chairman of PortCastelló noted that this shipping connection “will generate synergies and attract new business activities to Castellon.”
