2024-02-21. PortCastelló is building on its commitment to digital transformation with the installation of new smart meters which will help to make the Port Authority’s buildings and port facilities more efficient in terms of electricity usage.
The meters have been supplied and fitted at eight sites across the Port Authority, namely the electricity substation, the customer and customs buildings, the Moruno exhibition hall, the Plaza del Mar and the Inner Transversal Quay. The facility also includes the network analysers and monitoring systems required at each of these points.
The project, involving an investment of more than €36,475, has been rounded off by laying the fibre-optic cable needed for communication, programming and data collection on a web platform for reading and processing.
The Chairman of the Port Authority, Rubén Ibáñez, commented that “deploying these smart meters is a major step in upgrading our port infrastructures and our contribution to environmental sustainability.”
Ibáñez also pointed out that the meters “are a significant breakthrough in resource management and cutting operational costs for the port.”
The new smart meters are partly financed by the European Union through Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan under Next Generation funds.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, they deliver real-time monitoring and data analysis capabilities which enable more efficient energy and resource management.
“The EU’s financial support is allowing us to enhance our ability to monitor and manage our resources in a smarter and more efficient way,” added Ibáñez.
