6 February 2024

2024-02-06. The Chairman of the Port Authority of Castellon, Rubén Ibáñez, underscored PortCastelló’s commitment to “diversifying goods throughput”. “This is exactly the right time for us to raise the bar and our immediate goal, alongside growing in emerging markets, is to bring in new goods traffic,” he commented.

Ibáñez was speaking at the welcome event for the Jaume I University – Castellon Business Foundation patrons who he invited to “look around, learn about and experience the port” during their visit to the Port of Castellon.

The head of the port authority noted that “the current trend points to the growth and recovery of goods throughput” as reflected in the figures for last December which show a 23.5% increase in solid bulk compared to the same period in 2022.

Ibáñez further emphasised the development of the new expansion area at the South Dock and added that “the enclosing breakwater for the confinement area at the dock is to be completed this year”. “This ambitious project means we gain 420,000 square metres from the sea while also becoming more competitive as a large-scale hub for businesses and investors,” he stated.
