PortCastelló reinforces its commitment to transparency and ethics by launching an internal whistleblowing channel

20 July 2023

20-07-2023. The Port Authority of Castellon has become a pioneer in the fight against fraud and corruption thanks to the launch of an anonymous whistleblowing channel for employees and associated third parties, in compliance with Law 2/2023 on the protection of persons who report breaches and the fight against corruption.

The internal whistleblowing channel is an early detection tool available as of today on the authority’s website, through which employees and others can confidentially report any suspected misconduct within the authority, such as fraud, corruption, breaches and any other type of inappropriate conduct.

Through this initiative, the Port Authority promotes a culture of transparency and accountability by encouraging all persons associated with the organisation to report any suspicious activity or breaches of applicable policies, laws and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, cases of corruption, embezzlement, harassment at work, discrimination and any other conduct that goes against the ethical principles and values of the organisation.

The implementation of the internal whistleblowing channel, drawn up by Unive Abogados, guarantees confidentiality and protects whistleblowers. Complaints may be made anonymously and will be treated confidentially to prevent retaliation. The Port Authority has established a clear procedure for handling and assessing all the reports received, ensuring that thorough investigations are carried out and that the necessary measures are taken to address any irregularities that come to light.

According to Maritina Vidal, Director of the Port Authority of Castellon, “We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in everything we do. The implementation of this internal whistleblowing channel is an important step in strengthening our in-house control system and ensuring that we are informed of any irregularities in a timely manner so that we can address and eradicate them”.
