The Port Authority of Castellón is executing the works for the installation of new dust trap screens in the south dock for an amount of 268,000 euros. The works are expected to be completed in a month and are part of the environmental sustainability policy promoted by the public body in matters of environmental protection.
Specifically, 20 5-meter modules are being installed that constitute a 100-meter-long screen with a height of 11 meters, which aims to prevent the dragging of particles from the handling of solid bulk, minimizing the impact of port operations in the area. It must be remembered that the port of Castellón is the second in solid bulk traffic in the Spanish port system.
This screen is added to the current three distributed in the two docks of the port of Castellón. As a whole, they have involved an investment of 1 million euros, and are part of the 18 environmental protection actions that the Port Authority has promoted to minimize the emission of particles into the environment.
These actions include real-time public information on the quality of the air in the port environment through its web portal, the installation of wheel washers or the approval of a Code of Good Environmental Practices, with the aim of regulating the operations of handling of solid bulk that is developed in the port area.
