PortCastelló goods grow by 9.81% through july in accumulated data

The port of Castellón grew by 9.81% until July compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 12,910,902 tons in the accumulated figure for the year, compared to 11,757,101 tons in 2021, which represents more than one million tons of difference.

By type of merchandise presentation, solid bulk continues to be the merchandise with the highest growth so far this year, with a cumulative growth of 21.41%, followed by liquid bulk, which grows 5.03%, and general merchandise that fell by 16.32% compared to the same period last year. In absolute figures, 5,973,077 tons of solid bulk, 5,969,218 tons of liquid bulk and 947,434 tons of general merchandise have been moved in the accumulated of the year.

With these closing data for July, the accumulated merchandise moved in the port of Castellón achieves a balance between solid and liquid bulk, with 46.3% each of the total moved. General merchandise accounts for 7.3% of the total.

Total monthly traffic in July was 1,812,493 tons, which represents an increase of 2.59% compared to July of last year, thus following the general trend of 2022 in which most months have obtained better data than the same periods of 2021. For merchandise, liquid bulk traffic in July grew by 7.67%, moving 819,037 tons; solid bulk decreased by 3.14% with a total of 833,117 tons moved and general merchandise grew by 10.79%, with 157,443 tons compared to the same month last year.

The most important goods moved in the port of Castellón in July have been, in this order, crude oil, feldspar (close to three million tons each so far this year), clay, gasoline, fuel oil, kaolin and coque.

In addition, the main ports with which PortCastelló has maintained a commercial relationship during the last month are Turkey, Canada, the United States, Russia and Libya.

The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rafa Simó, highlights that “there are already almost 13 million tons moved by the PortCastelló docks so far this year until July, which is almost 10% more than last year. This good figure is thanks to the fact that this month of July has been better than the previous one by 2.5% and also thanks to the good work and the work of the entire port community of Castellón”
