28-06-2022. The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Castellón has unanimously approved the annual accounts for 2021, which include figures that reflect its economic strength to face productive investments that will increase its competitiveness.
Thus, revenues amounted to 30.2 million, 4.83% more than in 2020, a sign of recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. Operating expenses grew by 0.94%, reaching 19.9 million, so that the operating result in 2021 was 10.3 million euros compared to 9.08 million euros in 2020, which represents an increase of 13.26%, thanks to good management and the optimization of economic resources.
Taking into account the financial charges, a result of the year before taxes of 9.6 million euros is obtained compared to the 6.8 million euros reached in 2020, that is, an increase of 4.12%.
PortCastelló closes 2021 with good indicators of financial strength: EBITDA amounts to 17.7 million, Cash-Flow to 15.1 million euros. In 2021 the Working Capital reaches 65 million euros, which represents an increase of 8.1%
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rafa Simó, has highlighted that the port of Castellón maintains the level of profitability required by the State Ports Public Organization (OPPE) to continue applying discounts and reductions in rates with the aim of being a port attractive to your customers and attract new traffic.
On the other hand, he has referred to the improvement of services thanks to the optimization of contracting undertaken during 2021, and which has allowed spending to be contained.
The Council has also approved the rules of the Navigation and Port Council of the Port Authority of Castellón, as well as its composition. It is an assistance and information body of the Maritime Captaincy and the president in which those natural or legal persons who request it with the aim of the proper functioning of the port and maritime trade can be represented.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rafa Simó, has reported the data on freight traffic in the port, which reflects an increase of 16.7% so far this year. Thus, PortCastelló accounts for a total of 9.2 million tons until May, driven by solid bulk. Only during the month of May, the port has grown 26.8% in total merchandise traffic compared to the same month of the previous year.
