The government sub-delegate in Castelló, Soledad Ten, and the president of the Castelló Port Authority, Rafa Simó, visited today the new premises of the Customs building that is located on the Costa dock. A building that has already been in full operation since last June 23 after it stopped providing service in April 2012 due to its poor condition.
The rehabilitation actions of the Customs building have included the structural reinforcement of the property, replacement of the roof, waterproofing of terraces and installation of offices on the ground floor. These actions have had a budget of about 400,000 euros.
In total 12 officials have moved from the current Treasury building, located on Paseo Ribalta, to the Customs building to provide service for the different administrative procedures related to the inspection of merchandise. Specifically, they are in charge of managing and controlling the import and export declarations of goods outside the European Union.
Both managers have valued the importance of recovering these procedures in the port environment, a demand not only from port operators but from all economic sectors in the province of Castelló since it will improve the service provided to its users and increase the competitiveness of PortCastelló.
Income Campaign 2021
On the other hand, the rehabilitation of the building has meant the provision of reserving a specific space to provide the income campaign service of the Tax Agency that these last two years, due to the pandemic and organizational reasons, have not been provided.
Soledad Ten and Rafa Simó have been accompanied on the visit by the new director of the port, José María Gómez, the delegate of the Tax Agency, Manuel Rodríguez, and the head of customs clearance, Alfredo Pascual.
