17-11-2021. The Castellón Port Authority will increase the number of dust traps installed in the port area with the tender for a new structure in the southern dock with a budget of 317,276 euros and a 3-month execution period. Specifically, 20 modules of 5 meters will be placed that constitute a screen of a length of 100 meters with a height of 11 meters.
This new facility is added to the three current ones that PortCastelló has located on the Cerámica dock and the Transversal Exterior dock of the north dock and another one in the south dock. As a whole, 650,000 euros have been invested in its acquisition, and they are monitored and evaluated by the Institute of Ceramic Technology.
The installation of these screens is part of the 18 environmental protection actions that the Castellón Port Authority promoted to minimize the emission of particles to the environment. These actions include, for a few weeks, real-time public information on the air quality of the port environment through its web portal. The data shown are those from the five stations that cover the entire perimeter of the port of Castellón, which allow to instantly know the information, interpret the data to improve air quality and plan port operations in the if necessary.
In addition, a year ago the Board of Directors of the Port Authority approved a Code of Good Environmental Practices, with the aim of regulating the solid bulk handling operations carried out in the port area.
The president of the public body, Rafa Simó, has highlighted the need to promote operations that are increasingly sustainable and respectful of the environment. “One of the objectives of our Strategic Plan is to be the best ally of our environment”.
