PortCastelló grows 3.8% in the first four months of the year
The port of Castellón moved a total of 6,448,720 tons of goods in the first four months of the year, which is 3.8% more than the same period of the previous year.
This figure is due to the good performance of solid bulks, which increased 28.8% in the accumulated of the year, with a total of 2,564,339 tons. On the contrary, liquid bulk traffic fell (7.3%) and general merchandise traffic (11.5%) in the first four months.
This positive figure for the first four months is also the result of the 13.6% growth in traffic in April, which closed moving 1,628,993 tons. In addition, this month is the best April in solid bulk traffic in the history of PortCastelló, moving 701,596 tons, 48.7% more than the same month last year.
This month also recorded an increase in general merchandise traffic, 10.6%, moving 153,721 tons, and container traffic also increased 8.1%, accounting for 10,891 TEUs. Liquid bulk traffic is the only one that decreased, 5.9%, moving 771,484 tons.
The most important goods moved in the port of Castellón are, in this order, oil, feldspar, clays, fuel oil, gasoline, tiles and biodiesel.
On the other hand, the main destinations with which PortCastelló maintains a commercial relationship are, in this order, Turkey, Canada, Libya, Russia and Ukraine.
With these data, liquid bulk traffic represents 50.3% of the total of PortCastelló, followed by solid bulks, which account for 39.8% and general merchandise 9.9%.
The Castellón Port Authority has set a significant reduction in rates, an increase in services and an investment effort that is set at 18.5 million to be a competitive and attractive port and increase traffic.
