The port of Castellón grew 12% in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year. Specifically, it accounts for 9,990,190 tons in the accumulated of the year, compared to 8,916,956 in 2020.
In addition, PortCastelló achieved the best month of June in its history in solid bulks, which increased 104% to add 920,848 tons. Traffic in liquid bulk (24.5%), general merchandise (14.4%), and containers (46.2%) also increased in June. With this, the port of Castellón closes the month of June with a total traffic of 2,031,857 tons, which represents a growth of 50% compared to June of last year.
By type of merchandise presentation, liquid bulks represent 49.4% of the total, followed by solid bulks (40.7%) and general merchandise (9.9%).
The most important goods moved in the docks of the Castellón port area in the first semester are, in this order, crude oil, feldspar, clays, fuel oil, gasoline, tiles and biodiesel.
In addition, the main ports with which Castellón maintains commercial relations are Turkey, Libya, Russia, Ukraine, Canada and Italy.
The president of the Castellón Port Authority, Rafa Simó, highlighted the growth of bulk solids “due to the good performance of the ceramic sector” and referred to the rebound in liquid bulk traffic. “The port is a thermometer of economic activity and the registered increases translate into the generation of wealth for our environment”
