The port of Castellón has received the two boxes necessary to start the construction of the new public docking for liquid bulk in the south dock.
The works began on October 17 with an adjudicated budget of 3,737,723 excluding VAT, and is expected to conclude in August 2021.
This infrastructure will improve the competitiveness of PortCastelló, and will respond to the increase in liquid bulk traffic, which represents 52.8% of the port’s global traffic.
The concrete crates have been prefabricated in the port of Tarragona and have already been unloaded in the south dock of PortCastelló. They are part of the project to build the new dock for liquid bulk ships between 5,000 and 45,000 dwt (deadweight tonnage) and lengths between 110 and 210 meters.
The transfer operation has been complex given that it involves precast reinforced concrete crates of 33.35m in total length, 16.75m of beam and 16.50m of depth, each weighing 4,700 tons.
