09-11-2021. The Castellón Port Authority awards the first phase of the southern railway network to the SATO-OHL-GIMECONS joint venture for a budget of 5,644,383.09 euros, VAT not included, and an execution period of 23 months.
The action is part of the set of investments foreseen in the Castellón Port Authority Business Plan in terms of connectivity and is linked to the works of the bridge and north railway connection.
The works consist of the railway connection from the future retractable bridge to the southern railway access to the port of Castellón. The total length of this railway line is 1,200 meters, with double gauge (Iberian and international) and a storage area of 12,000 square meters. In addition, it includes an 8.5 meter wide transfer road around the platform to facilitate the movement of trucks.
With this award, progress is being made in the productive infrastructures planned by the Castellón Port Authority in terms of connectivity with the aim of responding to the productive sectors of the province and increasing the competitiveness of PortCastelló.
On the other hand, the Port Authority has also awarded the road next to the south dike to the mercantile Becsa S.A. for a budget of 900,000 euros, VAT not included, with an execution period of 4 months. The objective of this work is to provide the southern basin of the port of Castellón with adequate connections due to the increase in liquid bulk traffic. The works consist of the execution of a series of roads with a total length of 720 meters.
