The Castellón Port Authority has started a collaboration with the Castellón Down Syndrome Foundation to design the gifts that will be delivered in the next edition of the PortCastelló Lighthouse Awards. The detail will be given to members of the jury and the winners, and consists of a ceramic plate made by the boys and girls of the occupational workshop at the foundation’s center in Castellón.
The first edition of the Faro awards was held in 2016, and arose with the aim of reinforcing the sense of belonging of the Castellón Port Community, contributing to the knowledge of different areas related to the logistics-port sector and recognizing the merits of the work carried out . This year it will take place during the month of November and will have the collaboration of the Down Syndrome Foundation as an example of integration and development.
This alliance is strategic for the two entities, but especially for the Castellón Port Authority “because it allows it to enhance its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), helping to reduce inequalities”, as the president has pointed out from the public body, Rafa Simó.
For her part, the president of the Foundation, Carolina Ballester, highlighted “the importance of this type of action for our entity and to make visible the great work carried out by people with Down syndrome and / or intellectual disability at the Occupational Center, given that allow to promote their labor inclusion and improve their quality of life ”.
Both institutions are part of the Castellón Social Responsibility Table, which brings together different companies, NGOs and institutions with the aim of creating and promoting a space for dialogue for the exchange of information and experiences of good practices in matters of social responsibility.
