The Costa Sur dock in the Portsur bulk terminal of the port of Castellón hosts an unloading operation of 65,000 tons of corn from Brazil, which represents the largest shipment of this product that has been received to date at the port facilities. The last largest shipment of corn was the Alpha Hero in August 2019, at 54,000 tonnes.
The merchandise has been transported in the MV Horizon Diamon, consigned by Gimeno Logística Portuaria, and is unloaded in Portsur Castellón, which has all the quality certifications, health records, machinery and warehouses to carry out this type of operations.
The ship, 225 meters long, 32.26 meters wide and a draft of 13.20 meters upon arrival, left from Brazil and the consumption of the product is destined to the manufacture of feed in the province of Castellón and neighboring provinces.
This unloading is in addition to that carried out last week of 46,000 tons of wheat, also becoming the largest shipment of this product in PortCastelló, given that the previous one was registered in July 2019 in Ferral Sable, with 36,000 tons.The president of the Castellón Port Authority, Rafa Simó, visited the unloading operation, accompanied by the commercial director of Portsur, Jaime Muñoz. Rafa Simó has highlighted that the port of Castellón is at the service of the productive sectors of the province, among which he places the agri-food industry.
