PortCastelló closes the best October in its history by moving a total of 1,881,977 tons
October is also the best month in solid and liquid bulks
The port of Castellón closes last month as the best October of its history in total merchandise traffic, by moving 1,881,977 tons, which represents almost 30% more than the same month of the previous year. This improves the previous October traffic record, which dates back to 2016.
In addition, last month becomes the best October in PortCastelló in solid bulk, adding 682,948 tons -17.9% more-; the previous record was in October 2017. It is also the best October in liquid bulks, reaching 949,265 tons, – 54.1% more-, thereby exceeding its record, which was in 2012.
Only the traffic of general merchandise has fallen 0.5%, and accounts for 249,764 tons, and container traffic, which has dropped 15.8% reaching 15,754 TEUs in October.
With these figures, the port of Castellón has grown 3.7% year-on-year, and moved 20,959,414 tons of merchandise during the previous year. In addition, the data reflects the diversification of PortCastelló: 50.7% of the goods moved are liquid bulk, followed by solid bulk, representing 34.6%, and general merchandise, 14.7%.
The most important goods moved at the docks of the port area are, in this order, oil, feldspar, clays, tiles and diesel and biodiesel.
In addition, the main ports with which Castellón maintains commercial relations are Turkey, Ukraine, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia, Algeria, Libya, Italy and Morocco.
