In December the port grew 55% compared with the same period in 2017.
PortCastelló ends 2018 with an accumulated growth of 18% , six times greater than the rest of the ports system.
In December the Port of Castellón moved 1.729.130 tons of goods which represents an increase of 54,9% compared to the same period of the previous year. These figures make it the best December ever in terms of total traffic, solid bulks and bulk liquids.
To be more specific, in December PortCastelló increased traffic in solid bulks by 10,8%, handling 544.526 tons. Bulk liquids also increased 146%, a figure of 948.198 tons. According to Francisco Toledo, the president of the Port Authority of Castellón this data,”is excellent news and behind it lie jobs, increased company activity , and an especially dynamic performance by the ceramics sector.”
December concludes with a drop of 1.3%in general goods, to 235.281 tons, and a drop of 21,2% in TEUs, with 14.404 containers.
Although the final figures remain to be published, PortCastelló ends 2018 with an accumulated growth in goods traffic of 18%, six times greater than the rest of the Spanish ports system.
Francisco Toledo said that “December closes with hew records for PortCastelló with more than 21 million tons of goods going through the port, the first time in its history that such a figure has been achieved, and placing the port in the ninth place in the overall ranking of Spanish ports and consolidating our position in fourth place in terms of solid bulk traffic.”
