In July a total of 2,072,627 tons went through the port and the interannual growth is 8.3%
The port of Castellón has moved a total 2,072,672 tons of goods in July, which makes this month the best in the history of the Castellón port area. This figure represents 5.7% more than the same period of the previous year.
The previous PortCastelló record dates from September 2018, when the figure of 2 million tons was exceeded for the first time in a single month, reaching 2,010,678.
In addition, July has also been the best month in the history of the port of Castellón in bulk liquids, with 1,029,013 tons, which is 18.8% more than in the same period of the previous year. The countries that have channeled the greatest volume of liquid bulk through PortCastelló have been Russia, Brazil and Turkey.
In addition, general merchandise traffic increased by 7.5% in July, with a total of 292,658 tons, and Morocco was positioned for the first time as the principal destination of exports of this type of traffic, ahead of Algeria, which is in second place. Container traffic is also growing, 3.1%, adding 19,963 TEUs, with Algeria and Morocco being the main ports with which trade relations of this type are being maintained.
The only traffic that showed a decrease in July is that of solid bulk, 8.5%, moving 751,001 tons. Turkey, Ukraine and Algeria are the countries which have the highest levels of trade in this type of traffic.
With this data, the port of Castellón records the best month in its history, and closes the first seven months of the year with a good level of growth in freight traffic. Specifically, the port is growing 8.3% year-on-year.
