The cruise ship Saga sapphire, form the Saga Cruises company will dock tomorrow Wednesday in PortCastelló with 400 crew members and 566 passengers on board, most of whom are from Britain. This company has made the decision to visit Castellón on two previous occasions, but this is the first time for the Saga Sappire.
The ship is dur to arrive early in the morning tomorrow. Once in the port the tourists will be able to choose from a range of excursions such as Aquarama, the caves of San Jose in the Vall d’Uxo, Peñiscola, Valencia , the centre of Castellón and others.
The novelty this year is the start up of the Castellón Cruise Friendly project which as well as a shuttle bus service to El Grao and the center of Castellón,which is provided by the Municipal Tourist Authority, a list of restaurants, shops and other such establishments which fulfill certain criteria which make them especially attractive for the tourists. In order that information about these establishments is provided Turisme Comunitat Valenciana is employing specialized English speaking staff who will be on duty at strategic points in the city and will act as Cruise Street Assistants.
Last week a meeting was held of those institutions that make up the Castellón Cruise Club to make the final preparations necessary for the reception of the ship. Castellón Cruise Club is made up of Castellón Tourist Authority, the Provincial Council of Castellón the Chamber of Commerce of Castellón, the Valencian Tourist Authority, the PortCastelló Foundation, the University of Jaume I, Castellón Airport and the Castellón Port Authoority.
The Port of Castellón inaugurated the dock for cruise ships in 201. It is situated on the extension of the ‘Dique del Este,’ is 350 meters long and the water has a depth of 16 meters.
