PortCastelló recieves its biggest ever shipmen of clay

The port of Castellón has received a total of  2.027.713 tons of clay in 2017, 69,4% more than the previous year



The Portsur solid bulks terminal at the port of Castellón has begun work to unload a ship form the Ukraine carrying  58.900 tons of clay. This represents lthe biggest ever shipment of this type of material to arrive at the port.

This is the third time this year that Portcastelló has broken its own records forthe quantity of clay unloaded at the port from a single ship which indicates that the pprt is prepared to receive large ships which operate with companies which want to take advantage of the opportunity to use larger ships.

Specifically, this last shipment came from the port of  Ilyichevsk to Castellón on board the  SBI Achilles, 200m in length and a gross weight of  34.899 tons and consigned by  Roca Castellón Consignaciones.

So far this  year a total of  2.027.713 tons of clay has been unloaded at the port of Castellón, 69,48% more than the same period of the previous year. Such is the importance of this type of raw materials and others connected to the ceramics industry, that the Port Authority of Castellón has this year extended area of the port dedicated to logistics by 90,000 square metres.

In just eight years PortCastelló has risen form eighth to fourth place in the import of solid bulks among the 46 ports that make up the Spanish system.
