PortCastelló closes the month of august with its best ever monthly figures for solid bulks

The port of Castellón has also returned the figures for the best August ever in total goods traffic and the accumulated growth so far this year is 10%.

This August, growth at the port of Castellón stands at 5.6% more than the same month in the previous  year, reaching  1.608.791 tons. These are the best ever figures for goods traffic recorded in the month of August.

The traffic in solid bulks has contributed most to this increase, 18%  more than the previous year, reaching  675.793 tons. With this figure the port of Castellón breaks its own record making it the best ever month of August for solid bulks. The accumulated growth over the year so far is 25% and means that Castellón is now fourth on the list of Spanish ports for this type of traffic.

The most significant increase corresponds to raw material imports for the ceramic industry, which demonstrates the dynamic situation of the provincial ceramics sector. In order to cope with this increase, PortCastelló has modified its investment plan, increasing it by 5.5 million euros in order to create 90,000 square metres of new logistics space for the handling of solid bulks.

Bulks liquids traffic is also developing satisfactorily at the port of Castellón, increasing by 1.4% to  679.676 tons in August. On the other hand general goods traffic has decreased by 9.5% standing at  250.268 tons in August, likewise container traffic is  down 1.8% to  18.837 TEUs.

With this data PortCastelló closes the first eight months of the year with an accumulated growth in goods traffic of 10.1%, reaching 12.445.248 tons. The accumulated growth in solid bulks is followed by the growth in container traffic (12.4%) general goods (11.2%) and lastly bulk liquids (0.6%)

These figures reflect the high degree to which traffic has become diversified at the port of Castellón. So that liquid bulks now represent 45.7% of the the total traffic, followed by solid bulks, 34.5% and general goods 19.9%.
