29 July 2013

The traffic at the port continues offering good news. June became one of the best months in the Port of Castellon history. Tile export reached the second most important traffic for first time at the port. It was a record month in container traffic, with over 22,000 TEUs. The accumulated data, the first half of the year, are not far behind. PortCastelló grew by 18 percent and container traffic increased by 30 percent. The figures were also optimal for other traffics. The Port of Castellon was the second highest growth in the first five months of the year behind Bilbao, with 11.19 percent of the port area of Castellon.

The president of the Port Authority of Castellon, Mr. Juan José Monzonís, positively assessed this data during the celebration of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Castellon which closed the first part of the exercise. Mr. Juan Andrés Lecertúa Goñi, former Marine Captain of Castellon, received a memorial plaque in recognition of his service as a board member for several years until he was relieved in post months ago. After the meeting, counsellors admired the new large ceramic panel located at the hall of the central offices of the Port Authority. It is made with 60 high quality pieces of 38×38 centimetres by Ceracasa, who used its innovative ceramic printing system called Emotile.
