The Windstar cruise will put in at PortCastelló on Sunday with 200 bike lovers

The sailing ship Windspirit operated by the company Windstar American is expected to arrive at the port area of Grao at 6.30 am carrying about 200 pasengers and crew. Following the arrival the passengers will land with their bikes to take part in a cycling route through the province of Castellón and thence heading for the Port of Valencia, where they will board and set off for Cartagena.

PortCastelló supports to the Mediterranean Corridor Summit

The Port of Castellón has shown its support to the Mayors Summit about the Mediterranean rail Corridor, which was also confirmed to attend the Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation of Entrepreneurs. The meeting will be held on 7th of September. It will be closed by the president of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, and it has been invited mayors of 12 provincial capitals affected by this infrastructure. The mayor of Castellón, Alfonso Bataller, met this week with the Port Authority chairman, Juan José Monzonís, and director of the Port, Roberto Arzo.

PortCastelló is more in number than 20,000 TEUs in July 2011

The Port of Castellón already is more in number than 20,000 TEUs in the first seven months of the year compared to same period in 2010. Between January and July PortCastelló moved 75,000 containers compared to just over 54,000 in the same period last year. These figures represent an increase of 37.5 per cent in container traffic and predicts a very important figure in the total balance of the year.

PortCastelló grows 17.3% in the first half of the year and in June achieved its second best figure of the year

The Port of Castellón has grown 17.3 percent in the first half of the year, according to data from the Department of Statistics of the Port Authority of Castellón. It has also been achieved in June its second best year in terms of percentage increase and volume of goods. The increase has been 16.8 percent and in all months, except March, has surpassed one million tons. So far this year, the Port of Castellón also accumulates a million tonnes more than in 2010 of a total of more thant 6,600,000.

State Ports will distribute over 42 million between the 28 port authorities

Interport Compensation Fund, an instrument of territorial cohesion to reallocate system resources of the Port Authorities through the State Pors, will allocate a total of 42.5 million euros to compensate the 28 authorities according to their needs and economy. This was agreed today on the distribution committee of the Compensation Fund, celebrated at the Port Authority of Castellón.

PortCastelló meets all the presidents of the ports of Spain in Castellon for first time. It will be on 19th of July in a day working group convened by Puertos del Estado to develop in the assembly hall of the Port Authority of Castellón for the meeting of the Committee on Distribution of Compensation Interportuaria Fund and other currently issues about ports. 96% of citizens satisfied with PortCastelló

Visitors to the port area were invited to complete the opinion poll, which consisted in a dozen simple questions, mostly closed questions that should be answered with yes or no. The content of the questions concerned the organization of the Open Day, CSR, economic development, environment and port-city relation. Port staff and hostesses sought a survey that was answered by family or group of people who visited the port. The results of the opinion poll revealed, therefore, a satisfaction rate of 96%, a percentage that has been very much appreciated from PortCastelló.

The railroad, the protagonist in PortCastelló

The railway will be one of the great protagonists of the II Open Day of Port of Castellón, which will take place as part of intermodality on Saturday, 18th of June. Near the bus stop to access to the port area, between the Harbour and Mercadona of the Grao, visitors could enjoy with a miniature train circuit on a path of more than 250 square feet and four different engines. Children and parents could give rides in the railroad.

The Port of Castellón will deliver to citizens that take part in its II Open Day a publication with pictures of the port in 3D (3 dimensions), together with those corresponding glasses for proper viewing. Spectacular harbor images in 3D are the work of photographer Santi San Martín. This is the first time that the Port could be seing in 3D, a widely technology used in movies today.

PortCastelló enhances their security defenses with new quays

The Port of Castellón has enhanced its security by installing new safeguards on its docks. It has been installed in the Inner Harbour 7 new defenses cylindrical length of 2 meters by 1.2 meters in diameter, similar to the Ceramics Spring. It has been disassembled 9 damaged defenses, of which the 5 that maintained good conditions have been repositioned. Finally, the defense number 5 has been placed  in the External Cross Dock. In this way, they are in perfect condition especially for the citrus campaign. The defenses favor the docking of ships in port eliminating the danger when approaching to the docks.
