Prevention of Accidents in the workplace

PortCastelló is concerned for the safety, healthy working conditions and possible health problems of all its employees and therefore has established a company policy that covers all the elements that guarantee the widest protection possible for the physical well-being of employees given  the level of risk which exists within the system.

The organisation is not only committed to comply with strictly legal requirements, but also has acquired commitments to make continuous improvements related to safety and health by setting up a management system based on the  OHSAS 18.001/2007 renewed last September after auditing with the company Lloyd's Register.

The management of the company establishes objectives for preventive measures so that the degree to which these objectives has been acheived may be evaluated, with the primary objectives being those of reducing the number of accidents, minimising damage and ensuring swift and appropriate action when necessary.

Prevention is a part of the overall management of the organisation, which allocates sufficient resources to ensure the proper fulfilment of established objectives, with respect not only to specialised personnel from within the company, but also outside consultants.

During the past year 2010 from the Port Authority introduced new measures to prevent risks, with a vision towards continuous improvement always looking towards the future.

The Port Authority is equally sensitive to the social context in which it operates and therefore makes great efforts to take into account the opinions and interests of the local inhabitants, subcontracting companies, visitors, as well as employees. The company welcomes suggestions because it is only with the cooperation of all concerned that the company will be able to achieve its objectives and fulfil its responsibilities to the society in which it operates.
