PERS Certification
In accordance with its environmental policy, the Port Authority of Castellón voluntarily committed itself in 2005 to the Ecoports Foundation, the objective of which is to establish a network of European ports which share environmental concerns. The port was awarded the PERS Certificate (Port Environmental Review System), in 2008, a sure indication of the commitment, on the part of the Port Authority, to ensure that both private and public companies operating in the port manage their activities in a way that takes care of the environment. The PERS certificate is a valid and recognised way, recommended by ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation) to help ports over the first stages of setting up a quality control system, and as the first step towards higher level management systems.
