Sustainability Corporate social responsibility (CSR)
The Port of Castellón has gained a reputation over the years for its commitment to be involved with and to support the people of Castellón, and especially the town of el Grao de Castellón through projects and sponsorships in the economic, social, educational, cultural and sporting fields.
With the aim of establishing a Corporate Social Responsibility project, the Port Authority of Castellón (APC) has decided to make changes to its philosophy of management, taking determined steps, from the beginning of 2009 onwards, towards a more socially responsible style of management. In the current Business Plan (2009-11), therefore, Corporate Social Responsibility has been given high priority.
In this, the Port Authority of Castellón’s search for corporative and operational excellence, includes active support for socio-economic activities in the surrounding area, respect for the environment and the offer of valuable services to society and the port community. All of this begins by creating sustainable growth through a first class management of investments which in turn will improve the infrastructure of the Port and encourage private investment. Thus it will be made clear that the Port has established, as fundamental management principles, sustainability, a straightforward open style of management and a genuine and permanent commitment to serve all those with a stake in the business of the port.
A commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility which is provided with systems of internal and external quality control which are carried out in numerous ways and have been collected in an inventory after an exhaustive analysis of the activities of the APC carried out over the last years. The main fields where this analysis was carried out were, social, working, environmental and economic.
The Port Authority of Castellón, through its Management Committee, has placed great emphasis on a responsible style of business management as representative of all it stands for, of its ambitions and of how it aims to achieve them. In short, it is representative of how the whole organisation functions.
