New southern railway access

The Port is currently developing the new South Basin with important participation from private investment. In order to assure the progress of this new development, it is most important that a railway connection be provided for this new area,  which may be termed ‘the southern railway access’.

At the end of 2008 the Port Authority finalised an updated study on the southern railway access, together with a Demand Analysis, which was sent to the office of the State Ports.

While we are waiting for an official reply , the Port Authority has put forward the production of plans to construct the rail network in and around the South Basin, which would form the final part of the above mentioned study.
